- Follows 17-year-old Tim Walker as he travels from London to the Austrian Alps to attend the legendary Mozart boarding school. There, he discovers a centuries-old forgotten passageway into the fantastic world of Mozart's "The Magic Flute."

Conducted by Sir Colin Davis, performers include Simon Keenlyside as Papageno, Dorothea Röschmann as Pamina, Will Hartmann as Tamino and the legendary Diana Damrau as the Queen of the Night (Königin Der Nacht).

Hungarian soprano Erika Miklósa is superb as Queen of the Night...not only nailing the impossibly demanding coloratura acrobatics, but singing it beautifully as well" (San Francisco Examiner). As Papageno, Christopher Maltman is unmatched in his "vocal brio and theatrical flair...there was no resisting a performance this resplendent. [His] singing is impossibly rich, with a wealth of tonal color and plenty of easy power" (San Francisco Chronicle).
- The Queen of the Night persuades Prince Tamino to rescue her daughter Pamina from captivity under the high priest Sarastro; instead, he learns the high ideals of Sarastro's community and seeks to join it.

- Our old friend Max is seen ambling down the street on pleasure bent, when he is stopped by an old fellow who sells him a magic flute. All who hear the music from the reed cannot help dancing. Those who know Max can imagine the result Puppy dogs dance the sailors' hornpipe, and a group of sweet girl graduates who are posing for a photographer fall under the mystic spell and, do they dance? Well, yes! On he goes turning sorrow to joy, making everyone happy, including the spectators of this film, which ends with Max in bed piping away in his flute while the chairs, tables and bed do a can-can around the room.
